Tilda with small gift....and some sweet stuff for one of you!

Hi there! How is everyone this week? I'm having a dandy time - much improved on the last few (apart from losing wii monopoly several times this week! Lol!).
Been catching up on some DVD's this week, the Imbetweeners - hilarious! Lucky number Sleven (awesome film - definately a must see) and Once - which is a bit arty but also very good. If anyone has any films they recommend I'd be very grateful for the heads up!
Apart from that this week I've also had the debate with my boyf about naming cars...He doesn't... I have named every car I've ever had (a short list of three including my most recent one). The first was Betty Blue, the second Roxy and my new car is Owen (due to number plate determination I'm afraid!). Is this a girl thing? If so just out of interest what do you call your car? And does your other half have a name for theirs too?

Well onto this weeks card. We were given the challenge of using "stripes" on our projects this week, and as you know I've had a few Magnolias in storage awaiting inking so had to give Tilda with small gift from the 2011 collection a try. Here's what I came up with...

I distressed all of the edges with a distressing tool and inked with walnut stain
and then stitched. The papers  in the background and stripes are from K and Co, the centre square is Old Book by magnolia.
The sentiment is from a whimsy sentiment set and reads "sending you a gift from the heart on your special day". The metal heart is from the Paperlane in Northallerton and is mounted with 3D foam pads.

Tilda as always is coloured with DI's. I used a blended combination of fired brick and black soot for her dress to match the backing papers. There's white gel pen on here too to bring out the little flowery spots. I've used diamond stickles underneath, but this isn't clear from the photo.

The large flower underneath the rose was part of a gift from the lovely Mona from CI - thanks sweetie! The other flowers are all wild orchid crafts, but I've distressed them with walnut stain (large rose) and fired brick (dahlias). I've also added diamond stickles on these. The pearls are made with salmon viva decor pearl pen.

I really hope you like her!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Anything goes: distressing
Just Magnolia: Love (mine is for a friend)
MDUC: distressing
Scrap Creations: Birthday
Party Time Tuesdays: Anything goes

Right onto the sweet stuff bit!

Hmmm... Not sure I like this one...Is it missing something?

Hi everyone! Buckle up this is a long post! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have as much of a clumsy week this week - everything went wrong last week. I nearly landed in the pond, I banged my hip on the table about 50 times (huge bruise now), I kept forgetting to take things I needed with me at work so had to keep going back down to get them, and finally I needed to finish work bang on time on Friday to collect my car from the garage and ended up being 2 hours later than usual... Phew! Glad that week is over and now hopefully with car restored and this weeks card sort of finished I can chill!

I have to say the highlight of my week has been watching Madagascar (the wildlife show, not the cartoon - although this too is excellent!). The colours and beauty are remarkable and I have to say I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to wildlife documentries, has anyone else been watching? I needed this to take my mind off the unremarkable episodes of Eastenders which I've been enduring in the hope they'll pick up - no such luck.

Right ranting over, here's this weeks card! The challenge at CI this week is "Clean and Simple", so no more than 2 design papers on your work please and embellishments to a minimum! I found this really hard as I wanted to cover this card with flowers, gems and pearls but had to hold back. I might add to it once the challenge is over! Lol! Let me know what you think anyway, I'm not used to my cards being so plain.

The frame is cut with nesties out of white doodlebug cardstock which I covered in yellow chalk, edged with walnut stain and stardust stickles. The text is printed off my PC, and then I used red and yellow chalks on this.

Tilda as always is coloured with distress inks. I used a LOT of clearstar gel pen and stardust stickles on her, but it's not showing up well on photos, there's a better one of this below.

Hmmm. What do you think? Is this too plain? If so what do you suggest I add? Suggestions most welcome!

Have a fab week and I look forward to reading any comments and suggestions you might leave me!

Thank you Nat!

Hi everyone! I popped over to our CI blog leader Natalie's blog (NGcards) the other day to find she has tagged me for this wonderful blog award! Thank you so much Natalie!

You have been TAGGED and want to participate? Then create a post where you post the 'LOVE BLOG' image. You should also blog the persons link that gave you the award and inform her/him that you accept the award. You can then choose 3 - 5 favourite blogs which you also link in your post, then each blogger will inform you that they have been tagged....Dear bloggers:The aim of this action is that we bring unknown, good blogs to light, so I would ask you not to blog fellow bloggers that already have 3,000 followers.

It is so hard to pick who to pass this onto as there are so many amazing blogs out there who also have less than 3,000 followers, but I have chosen:
Juls: her work is so pretty and she uses lots of different images and brands for her projects and each and every one is superb.
Rach: Creates stunning cards inside and out - a must-see blog!
Sadia: Uses beautiful bright bold colours and fabulous layouts on her work with stunning results.

I would have also picked Caroline, Coops, Mona, Nat, Elizabeth and Vixx but they have all received the award already!

Sketch week at Creative Inspirations Wednesday challenge

Hi everyone! Well I think the reason I was feeling poorly the week before last was that I was coming down with a horrendous cold... It emerged a couple of days after we got back from London and hasn't quite gone yet (cough splutter!). Luckily though my motivation isn't badly affected this time so I'm back to crafting this week and managed to use another magnolia stamp which always helps to perk me up a bit! I've got some still in their wrappers waiting to be used, I'm desperate to ink them up but really don't have time at the moment to do more than one card a week, so I'll have to be patient! (plus I think if I spend more time than I already do on cards I might find myself single!)

This week at CI Nat provided us with the most gorgeous sketch to work with, and on first sight it screamed "fan" at me for the semi circle piece, so I thought spanish Tilda would work well.

Here's what I came up with...

Close up of Tilda...   The pearls are made with a viva decor pearl pen (salmon) and there's some white pearl pen on the fan. There's Crackle glaze on her shoes although this isn't showing on the photos, and some stardust stickles under her feet. She is coloured with DI.

The flowers and leaves are from Wild Orchid Crafts, and the
sentiment is from the mini sentiments stamp set from whimsy
stamps

The fan is just a rectangular piece of paper which has been punched with MS optic dot border punch and folded. The metal centre and brad were gifts from the lovely Mona (CI) for my birthday. All edges have been inked with Walnut Stain DI and sewed with my sewing machine (still learning this one!). The papers are from my favourite DCWV paper pack.

I will be entering this card into the following challenges:
Papertake Weekly: Anything goes + flowers

So that's me for this challenge, I hope you like!

Take care everyone, and happy crafting! Hugs. Katy. xxx
